We are often asked about how important the weight We are often asked about how important the weight of a vinyl record is. Ultimately, a 180g record does not add any sound quality compared to a 140g, we cut the masters on the same lacquers on our end. However, a heavier record is less likely to be affected by warping. As an extreme example, here are some photos of a record weighing under 82g!! In the late 60s-early 70s, RCA produced what were known as Dynaflex records. These were known to weigh roughly 90g, and this is the lightest one we've seen!
